Lucas' Firsts

Yesterday, Lucas had his first piano lesson. He needs to work on tapping to the beat in common time, understanding long and short notes, understanding loud and soft notes, and posture.

Today, I finally got around to taking the training wheels off of his bike and took him to the park to teach him how to ride without them. He did great! He's probably been ready for like 2 years so I totally take the blame for not teaching him earlier. He needs to work on how to stop without falling and how to make smooth turns.

I didn't learn how to ride a bike until I was 17 years old. Seriously. I was in high school and thought it might be useful in college.

Dear Mark,
I met you years ago when we took a summer physics course together at Caltech. I were there with my 3 classmates from Rolling Hills High School (Ted, Mike, and Tim). Although Midi must have been in my high school class, I don't remember her even though our class was not that large. I was heartbroken when I read about the tragedy last year and recognized your name. I just recently discovered your deeply emotional and powerfully written blog. I will pray for you and Lucas. May God look after Midi and Nathan, and provide you with the strength/courage to continue on with life. Take care,

Hi- I don't know you, I stumbled onto your story through a friend on facebook. I am so sorry for the loss of your wife and son. You are very courageous and may god continue to watch over you and bless you. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Mark - I'm glad to see you blogging again. Your words continue to give me encouragement and perspective. Also, I still don't know how to ride a bike so Lucas is doing pretty great! ;-)
